On the second day of the SIJS, GJF’s governing board of directors met to discuss its future course of action. At this meet three new members Hitesh Lohia of Imagem Jewels, Vedant Jatia of Indian Institute of Jewellery and Ajit Pendurkar of Pendurkar Jewellers were inducted into the governing board. Vinod Hayagriv, GJF chairman invited opinions on the procedure to elect the next chairman of the organization. Various members of the organization requested that he extend his tenure by two years. However, it was decided that the appointment process of the new chairman would start in the next BOD meet on 11th April.
In the meeting, Hayagriv discussed the letter received from the government of India regarding the action plan to implement recommendations of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Hayagriv declared that GJF’s Annual General Meeting would be scheduled during IIJS 2010.
He said that annually 6 BOD meets would be held and as per the plan beginning this April, meetings would be held every 2nd Sunday of 2nd month in Mumbai. It was also decided that two GBOD meets would be scheduled in Macau and Ambi Valley, Lonavala.
The current status of Jewellery of India (JOI) was discussed, its new logo presented and the proposed brochure circulated. The JOI program is to be launched in Mumbai on 23rd April and later at Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore.
Final decision on an agreement between GJF and The Art of Jewellery to conduct a series of B2C exhibition titled Best of India across the country was also taken. |
